Omega-3 oils (fish / cod liver oil) should be supplemented from a very young age, because most of us do not consume enough oily fish. (Please note: fish fingers won’t do the trick!)
Omega-3 supplements might prevent hyperactivity and a bad teenager skin, assist in the manufacturing of hormones, control depression, and prevent finger joints from becoming crooked. High-dose fish oil is also a very good pain killer. (I took 20 capsules - 1000mg each - in divided doses daily for up to 4/5 days in a row to control heavy dysmenorrhoea successfully.)
An easy test to know whether you should increase your long-chain omega-3 fatty acid supplements (5 to 10g daily might do wonders, even for memory and weight-loss) is to examine the consistency of the wax in your ear. The moment it becomes softer and does not coagulate to form a tiny mass or “plug”, you’re on the right track. Ensure that you buy a good quality pharmaceutical-grade product that does not contain mercury and read “The Miracle of the New High-Dose Fish Oil” by Dr Barry Sears if you can find it.
