Backache

Each one of us only has ONE body… delicately made! If you start to abuse it, expect damage and disease. Fortunately the body can heal itself – an open wound is a good example. Healing will happen even faster if you give your body the right nutrients.

Nearly 80% of adults are affected by back pain at some point in their lives most often in the lower back (also known as the lumbar area).  It can be either acute or chronic. Although I’ll be the first to admit that there are numerous reasons for backache, the importance of the 5th lumber disc should not be underestimated. 75% of the weight of the upper part of the body is supported by the water volume that is stored in the disc core. 25% is supported by the fibrous materials around the disc. The inter vertebral joints and their disc structures are dependent on different hydraulic properties of water stored in the disc core and end plate cartilage covering. Once dehydration sets in, these discs and their joints are first in line to suffer and the 5th lumbar disc is affected in 95% of cases. When pain hits, immediately drink two large glasses of quality water. This often gives relief within minutes. Muscle aches and back pain are frequently connected to dehydration. The body needs a minimum of eight 30ml glasses of water daily to keep acidic wastes from building up in muscles and other tissues.
While in my thirties, I was aware of backache constantly. In the mornings after getting out of bed I would walk crooked to the bathroom. Pain and stiffness in my lower back were even worse after a short fun run. I read a book called “Your bodies many cries for water – don’t treat thirst with medications”. I bought myself a water distillation machine that produces three litres of pure distilled water every time I use it and try to drink ± two litres every day. My backache is something of the past for more than 15 years now!

Although you should try the “water cure” before you consult a doctor, it is always advisable to take a back problem seriously and have it checked out if it doesn’t get better soon.
